Is Milford in Mass Save?

Yes. Milford gets its electricity from National Grid, not from a municipal light plant, so homes in Milford are in the Mass Save program. Its natural gas comes from Eversource (the state's list), also a Mass Save sponsor.

Milford is not on the state's list of municipal light plants. Mass Save is not statewide: 41 light plants serve all or part of 50 municipalities, and homes on their electric service are outside its electric program (Mass Save in municipal light plant towns).

Rebates and financing for new siding in Milford

Mass Save doesn't pay for the siding itself: its insulation and windows offers cover insulation, air sealing and windows, and siding is not on the HEAT Loan's list of eligible measures.

The insulation can be covered: after a Home Energy Assessment, Mass Save pays 75 to 100 percent of approved insulation and air sealing in Milford. Book the assessment before the old siding comes off, while the walls are open.

Do you need a permit for new siding in Milford?

Plan on one. Residing is not on the Massachusetts building code's list of permit-exempt work, and the Milford Building Department settles the borderline cases. 69% of Milford's homes were built before 1980 (Census ACS 2018-2022), and work that disturbs paint in a home built before 1978 has to follow the lead-safe renovation rules.

permits.llc carries the rules: its Massachusetts guide to the permit for new siding and the Milford Building Department page, with the department's contact and portal.
