Service area
Based in Millis, Twins Services INC is within a short drive of Medway (2 mi), Holliston (3 mi), Sherborn (4 mi), Medfield (5 mi), Norfolk (6 mi) and Dover (7 mi). Most Massachusetts hvac contractors work a 25-mile radius, so homeowners in those towns can reasonably ask for a quote.
Hiring a HVAC contractor in Millis
Massachusetts requires a permit for any HVAC system replacement, reviewed by the Millis building department. A heat pump retrofit needs a separate electrical permit for the condenser circuits, pulled by a licensed electrician. Homes near the Charles River and Bogastow Brook sit close to wetlands, so ground-mounted outdoor units may trigger conservation commission review under the Wetlands Protection Act. Some older homes need a panel upgrade to carry a heat pump, coordinated with Eversource. Established contractors handle both permits and flag wetland setbacks at the visit.
Millis costs run in the eastern Massachusetts mid-to-upper range given its MetroWest location inside the Boston commuter belt, though below city rates. A full whole-home heat pump retrofit runs roughly $19,000–$32,000 before rebates; a single-zone ductless mini-split lands at $4,500–$8,000 installed; and a like-for-like gas or oil boiler swap runs $7,500–$13,000. Homes with usable existing ductwork come in lower; those needing panel upgrades or multiple ductless zones push higher.
Massachusetts requires a written contract and a Home Improvement Contractor registration for most residential hvac work; ask for the registration number and check it before paying a deposit.
