Hiring a Landscaping contractor in Wellfleet
Retaining walls 4 feet and taller need engineered plans and a Wellfleet Building Department permit per MA State Building Code. ConCom review applies to work within 100 feet of any wetland, pond, or coastal resource. Properties inside the Cape Cod National Seashore boundary face additional NPS rules — tree clearing, exterior changes, and certain construction need NPS sign-off. Outer Cape permit timelines run long: allow 10–16 weeks for projects that touch multiple reviewers.
Wellfleet landscaping prices run 20–35% above the state average. Outer-Cape logistics, a tight labor pool, and a heavily seasonal client base all push pricing up. Weekly mow service runs $70–$130 for a typical lot. A 300 sq ft bluestone or shellstone patio installed runs $13,500–$24,000. Crushed-shell drives, a Cape signature, run $13–$26 per square foot installed. Soil amendment for new lawns runs higher than the rest of MA because every yard of screened loam is trucked over the bridges.
Massachusetts requires a written contract and a Home Improvement Contractor registration for most residential landscaping work; ask for the registration number and check it before paying a deposit.
