Uxbridge requires a building permit for roof replacement, filed through the Building Department at Town Hall. On the town's older mill-village and rural homes, tear-off can uncover plank decking or soft sheathing at the eaves needing repair before the new roof goes on, and that work is included in the permitted scope. Licensed contractors pull the permit and schedule the inspection.
