Service area
Based in Provincetown, Flying Plumbers is within a short drive of Truro (7 mi), Wellfleet (12 mi), Eastham (18 mi), Brewster (22 mi), Orleans (23 mi) and Dennis (23 mi). Most Massachusetts hvac contractors work a 25-mile radius, so homeowners in those towns can reasonably ask for a quote.
Hiring a HVAC contractor in Provincetown
The Provincetown Building Department permits HVAC work under 780 CMR; an electrical permit is required separately for heat pump circuits. Two town-specific layers commonly apply: the Historic District Commission reviews any visible exterior change in the core district, including outdoor heat pump units, and the conservation commission gets involved on lots near dune systems, wetlands, or the harbor. Plan for an extra 2–4 weeks when historic review is in scope.
Provincetown HVAC pricing is among the highest in the state — Cape transportation, tight site access, coastal-grade equipment, and a thin contractor pool all push numbers up. A whole-home cold-climate heat pump retrofit typically runs $22,000–$38,000 before rebates; a single-zone ductless install is $5,500–$9,000; a boiler replacement lands $9,000–$15,000. Late-fall and early-spring scheduling tends to price better than peak season.
Massachusetts requires a written contract and a Home Improvement Contractor registration for most residential hvac work; ask for the registration number and check it before paying a deposit.
