Aluminum Products of Cape Cod

A like-for-like window or door replacement in Dennis generally doesn't require a building permit, since the opening is unchanged. Permits apply to structural work — enlarging an opening, adding a window, or installing an egress window. On the Cape, work near wetlands, ponds, or either shoreline can trigger Conservation Commission review, and certain projects fall under Cape Cod Commission oversight. Check with the Dennis building department before ordering, particularly for older cottages and waterfront properties on the bay or sound sides.

Window and door costs in Dennis run toward the higher Cape Cod band, reflecting Cape logistics, seasonal demand, and the premium for coastal-rated products. Standard double-hung replacements typically run $650–$1,250 each installed, with impact or storm glazing higher. Coastal-rated insulated entry doors commonly run $2,000–$4,500 installed, and large sliders or French doors more. Waterfront exposure, seasonal scheduling, and contractor travel are the main cost drivers; small older cottages with non-standard openings add custom-size costs.

Massachusetts requires a written contract and a Home Improvement Contractor registration for most residential window & door installation work; ask for the registration number and check it before paying a deposit.
