Painting rarely needs a building permit in Uxbridge. Home age and registration are the real factors. On the older mill-era and antique stock that predates 1978, paint-disturbing work requires EPA RRP certification, and a home with a child under 6 can trigger licensed deleading under the Massachusetts Lead Law. Contractors doing repaints as part of remodeling must hold Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration.
