Faithful Build

Clinton issues building permits through its Building Department, with separate plumbing, electrical, and gas permits required when fixtures move or a gas appliance is added; standard residential remodels typically clear in one to two weeks. The large majority of the housing predates 1978, so EPA RRP lead-safe practices apply broadly, and full Massachusetts deleading rules apply where a child under six lives in the home. Multi-family work also has to satisfy code for separate-unit egress, venting, and fire separation.

Clinton sits in the central-Massachusetts band — generally below MetroWest and well below Boston-metro pricing. Mid-range bath remodels typically run $14,000–$26,000, with full guts of cramped early-1900s baths into the low $30,000s once plumbing and framing are rebuilt. Kitchens generally land $26,000–$48,000 mid-range. The dominant cost drivers are age-related: knob-and-tube remediation, panel upgrades, galvanized supply-line replacement, and reframing tight original layouts for modern appliances.

Massachusetts requires a written contract and a Home Improvement Contractor registration for most residential kitchen & bath remodel work; ask for the registration number and check it before paying a deposit.
